Question

What is artisan quality remodeling?

Answer

We take an artist's approach to our remodeling projects while using our engineering background to provide a structurally sound foundation. The purpose is to always ending with an aesthetically pleasing result.

Question

Quotes seem to be high. Why?

Answer

Our philosophy is to provide a fair and comprehensive quote for the entire job. This is not common for quotes. It is especially true when you see install prices at the mega stores. They advertise from $ 1.89/square foot.; That is NOT a comprehensive install price! (add flooring pad, moving furniture and artwork, trim, baseboard, supply trips, etc. We do much of the work for our quotes and meet our high standards to give you the best long run value.

Question

What makes you different than your competitors?

Answer

We take an artist's approach to our remodeling projects while using our engineering background to provide a structurally sound foundation. The purpose is to always ending with an aesthetically pleasing result. Our project approach is more contemplative in nature because we want the most owner participation in choice of colors, textures and materials.  A contemplative approach allows for more collaboration, sufficient testing or color and  material samples to be assured of the expected final results. Question

How long do projects take?

Answer

We will come up with a timeline schedule that takes into account all practical matters so you will know when we will be completely out of your home.

Question

Can you do a project while home owner is living in the space to be remodeled? How?

Answer

Yes. This is a well coordinated collaboration effort which includes shifting owners furniture from room to room so we can have a work area clear of furniture in the way. Alternately, the owner can decide to temporarily store furniture and personal goods off premise until the job is done. We make every effort to clean up daily knowing the owner will be home in the evenings. We keep the work area clean as we go to minimize dust and debris. Use large entry mats and hypoallergenic air filter when needed.

Question

What terms do you offer?

Answer

We use QuickBooks Online edition which allows for convenient online payments with any credit card, progressive billing, monthly statements, clearly defined work completed reports and estimates that meet your approval. The whole object is to eliminate billing questions and surprises. Terms are generally, "due upon completion" unless otherwise agreed to in advance. See also PDF

For special order materials we offer the same term as our vendor which often is 100% prepayment with the order since these are made to order products. Answer

We calculate your cost and installation as a whole depending on the nature of the work. This will be a firm quote for you the Client. Lead-times can be 3 to 6 weeks so ordering early is important to not delay the project timeline. All the above will be part of your estimate. Markup on materials ranges from 10 to 40 percent depending on the type of product and availability.  This markup in part covers our costs of sourcing, ordering and delivering products.

Question

Will you make references available for your prospective customers to check?

Answer

Just ask we will make a connection fro you give the client is agreeable. Check our testimonials and our portfolios examples.  Also, keep in mind, we tend to move slowly at first to build your confidence in two ways. First, by doing test paint samples and the like so you can see real results and imagine the whole project better. Second, for big projects like a whole condo remodel, we like to do one room completely and then pause for your to consider the results. Then we can quote on the rest of the work. It is our way of being sure we are on the same page and to insure fabulous long lasting results for you

Answer

Quite possibly so long as one of my clients is agreeable. I need to be respectful of their privacy.  We can discuss what you are searching for in a visit. You can review some of our work in the slideshows and video pages.

Question

How can I claim our services save money when owner is spending money?

Answer

In the case of preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems like your car and your house, timely repairs does save money. For example, we do oil changes on a schedule that might be 4 times a year or $ 25 x 4 or $ 100 cost per year. We do this to save a lot more money on replacing an entire engine that will cost $ 3000 to $ 5000. Thus, you spend $ 10 to save the difference between the $ 100 and the $ 3000. This applies to your home appliances, furnace, roofing, siding..... Also, see PDF pages for printable documents related to saving on home maintenance.

Question

  Is this service Free?

Answer

We often have a FREE phone consult or site visit Consult as part of defining your project needs. At times we may ask you to pay for a detailed estimate on a large project and then deduct the estimate from your project invoice if we get the job.  Let us talk about the nature of your project. More about our method of estimating here. Or Book a FREE phone consult

Question

What is “lost opportunity” and how does it apply to doing home maintenance on a monthly schedule?

Answer

This is an economists way of phrasing the former question. If your car breaks down, the engine blows up because you didn't bother to schedule regular oil changes, then the lost opportunity was the $ 100 and the real cost was engine replacement at $ 3000. The lost opportunity is the difference. See:
